How it all started...

My 9-year-old daughter looked at me with concerned eyes and carefully placed the iPad into my hands. She wanted to show me something. She had found a clip of the movie "Tall Girl." She whispered, "listen to this," as she waited for me to say something. "The tall girl can never be the pretty girl." My heart sunk.

Being tall is challenging, especially as a girl. Our society places emphasis on girls being petite and tiny. A tall girl is neither of those things. As a tall girl, I had many hiccups in my own childhood. I tried repeatedly to shrink myself into something I was not. I wished I was shorter and smaller. I stumbled frequently and didn't embrace my height until I was much older, far into adulthood. How do we teach tall girls, and really any girl, to TAKE UP SPACE?

After seeing my daughter see her height in a negative way for the first time, I knew I had to find a way to help inspire tall girls of all ages to take up space.
